In Love with Your Life? – Taking Steps to Freedom (part 2)

Dreaming of Freedom
When I dreamed of being my own boss, having a home-based business, I dreamed of FREEDOM. Having a wealth of time and money to do the things I love, while spending quality time with the people I care most about.
The first step initiated was a shift from being an employee in the lumber industry to self-employment in the Health & Wellness industry these past 12 years. I shifted gears for the same reasons many of us choose to be self-employed: work our passion, call our shots, plan our hours, and essentially create something of our own.
What is the problem with this? Time, geographical and financial freedom only exists as a Business owner or Investor. Money may be earned in all four arenas, yet only true FREEDOM is derived when a network of other people’s time and efforts are leveraged and duplicated.
According to bestselling author and financial educator Robert Kiyosaki, this requires a shift from generating income as an employee or self-employed individual to becoming a business owner or investor. Robert explains this through the Cashflow Quadrant, a conceptual tool Robert developed to categorize the four major ways income is earned. Watch this clip as Robert explains:

In Love with Your Life? – Creating Time for Reflection (Part 1)
March 14, 2012 by colleen · Leave a Comment
We are well beyond January, a month for beginning our 2012 new year’s resolutions. February, symbolically, the month of Love and Heart Health, is also completed. Both months are reflections of the Heart’s desires. Let’s check in. Are we TRULY in love with our life?
Are we feeling HEALTHY & vibrant in our body, exuding high levels of energy?
Are we PASSIONATE & inspired about our profession and daily to-do’s?
Are we in LOVE and feeling deeply nurtured in relationship with our partner or spouse?
Looking within, do we truly appreciate the blessings and teachings from our family and friends? Do we begin each morning our hearts filled with love, our body with Vigor and a Smile on our face? Do we feel deeply satisfied at day’s end that we’ve made a difference?
As a result of my own self enquiry and reflection, I have concluded that after 12 years offering private consultations, group workshops, newsletter articles, attending networking events and doing all the necessary aspects a self-employed person agrees to when they run their own small business through growing a community presence, I am choosing a window of reflection, a reprise in which I intend to spend more time BEING and less time DOING.
What this Means
This means allowing more time to experience what fuels and nourishes my soul, enabling more joy to flourish. I am saying YES, allowing the Law of Attraction to operate in the highest capacity to reflect back more of what I focus my attention on, assisting to open my arms to experiences that will ‘blow me away’ … life experiences which I have not yet ‘tasted’ in the four decades I’ve lived on this earth!
This reprise may be brief, or a longer time-frame. Perhaps an organic transition that includes a combination of what’s worked until now, coupled with newness. As I honour this inner calling, clarity will be presented over time by way of embracing additional opportunities to relax, play, exercise, hike, be outdoors, meditate, dance, write and connect with loved ones.

Reduce Stress: Massage & Bodywork Transforms Stress
November 28, 2011 by colleen · Leave a Comment
The impact of daily Stress on our physical, mental and emotional body plays a leading role in our overall Wellness. Add in the holiday activities, additional spending and couple that with an already emotional season for many and Massage & Bodywork become an essential choice for dissolving and transforming all levels of stress.
Life stressors are numerous. Beginning with our family and the challenge of personal relationships (marriage, children, and aging parents), being an employee or operating a business, the chemicals and toxins present in our food and personal care products, to environmental toxins and political factors, Stress is global and affects everyone.
Add to daily Stress a traumatic experience such as a life threatening illness or the tragic death of a loved one and WAM, you feel Stress times 1000%. This increased level of Stress can be deeply debilitating and harmful in many ways. It is ABSOLUTELY possible to reduce the havoc Stress plays on the body, mind and spirit, as have been experienced by Colleen’s CLIENT SUCCESS STORIES.
Depending on our childhood and cultural conditioning, each individual responds to Stress differently. Some people experience Stress more dramatically, yet all of us to some degree momentarily tuck away the intense emotion into the tissues, joints, muscles, meridians and cells of the body – for brief or lengthy periods of time to survive. When extreme emotion is suppressed for an extended period of time, as often the case in ‘fight or flight’ survival mode, physical, emotional and mental health may be jeopardized. Read more

Allowing What is to Create What we Want

Being 100% Responsible
Imagine if you will that we are 100% responsible for everything in our experience. What would this mean to you? In what way would you connect with people? How would you treat yourself?
Joe Vitale, author of the bestselling The Attractor Factor and Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len explain 100% accountability and responsibility through the ancient Hawaiian teachings of Ho’oponopono in their book Zero Limits: The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace and More.
Zero Limits talks about embracing Self I-Dentity and the truth being it only has to reach you, through me, as we are all one and it all happens inside. Is this confusing to understand? What does that really mean?
I believe it means that EVERYTHING starts with us. We create our lives, we chose our experiences, and we attract all that unfolds. This includes all the people in our lives with their pain and sorrow and joy and happiness, and with ours, joining together to make a difference because we are all part of the collective whole.
The First Step
The first step, the foundational step, to create what we want is to accept 100% responsibility and allow ‘what is’ at this VERY MOMENT. How often are we so focused on where we are going that we skip over where we are now? What successes have we reached that require celebrating? What blessings are we thankful for? What are we feeling in this moment? Read more
Belief in Our Desires
Living As If
THINK as if, FEEL as if, BE as if, ACT as if you are already living your desires and the Universe will have no choice than to provide.
We talk about the ‘Law of Attraction’ and so many of us understand intellectually and believe this true. Yet, the very act of embracing and living each moment of every day as though we already have that which we desire seems so difficult at times. At least it has for me.
The real truth is we are already healthy, abundant, wise, peaceful, whole and complete beings as we are in this moment. We have the make-up and building blocks inside ourselves to attract, or rather allow in our requests. Our desires are magnetic, awaiting us to surrender and appreciate our beautiful, loving, amazing selves that create the thought responsible for our desires.
What Gets in Our Way?
So what gets in our way? We do. A combination of the impact of our Beliefs with the level of resistance we have to surrendering the non supporting belief(s), awards us exactly what we have in this moment. What is a Belief? Wikipedia describes Belief as “the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true.” Read more
Listening to Wisdom of the Heart

The Emotional Heart
This holiday, let’s choose to listen deeply to the wisdom in our heart, embrace emotion that arises, and take the necessary steps to be true to ourselves and others. Go that extra mile….
The festive season brings up different feelings for everyone. Some people will experience incredible joy and appreciation. They will connect with out-of-town loved ones, re-unite with friends of years passed, or celebrate the addition of a spouse or beautiful newborn baby.
For others, the holiday is a highly stressful and emotional time that stirs up deep-rooted grief and sadness. There are often heartfelt reminders of loved ones passed, aloneness due to a separation, and even guilt for lack of communicating with someone we care for.
A Personal Experience
For myself this year, I am filled with both sadness and gratitude. I feel sorrow from a separation with my boyfriend this fall, who I continue to feel tremendous love for and see the possibilities of a great life together.
In listening to my heart’s wisdom, I realize the separation was necessary to encourage a profound awakening within us both. Read more
Is Stress Impacting Your Well-being?

A Personal Opinion
Now, more than ever before, we are being guided to go inside, listen to our voices and hearts, and seek ways to simplify our lives to reduce stress and enjoy optimal healthy living.
Our bodies, minds and spirit are feeling the collective pressure of global change. Triggered by our desire to expand personally & professionally, address our health needs, meet business and family commitments, and respond to economic shifts, our bodies are facing information overload.
Sometimes, this translates as feelings of extreme overwhelm. We may lash out at those closest to us, assuming the problem is outside of ourselves, in the other person or situation. Some of us are experiencing feelings that consist of a pressure cooker bubbling over or a daily emotional rollercoaster ride.
If we continue to look outside ourselves, blame the other driver, the unhappy customer or our spouse, we will never reveal to ourselves what’s eating us. Read more
Living from our Heart’s Desire
July 10, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
A Personal Update
The summer started with a Celebration of Life as my Grandfather, Russell Nelles, crossed over from the physical to Spirit. Although Gramps, as I affectionately referred to him, lived a long life of 94 years, his crossing naturally brought up grief for my family and me. The emotional reminder of how it feels to lose a father was re-visited, as it’s been 14 years since my father Gerry passed over.
One of the things I value the most is the teachings Gramps instilled in our family around working hard and never giving up. During a generation of extreme times in his early years raising a family and running a farm, Gramps taught his children and grandchildren the benefits of hard work paying off. Gramps, you are in my heart!
Never Give Up
When we feel with every breath and bone in our body, that something is true to us, the power of belief, desire, commitment, persistence and patience will indeed help us prosper. If we are seeking money and a certain lifestyle, but moving forward without a fire in our belly and passion in our heart, we can forget about it, as whatever we are doing will not survive long – at least not with any true substance and solid foundation for unlimited growth.
We’ve heard it before: “Follow your Heart and Success will come.” In those times that so many of us have experienced, if we feel financially strapped and outright stressed, it’s easy to sway from our true passion, all because we are unable to recognize tangible, immediate results. Be encouraged, be inspired, and be true to you, as it will indeed pay off.

Staying True to Heart
When we listen to the wisdom inside our hearts, and decide to commit to our truth, we always choose the optimal path for ourselves and encourage the best for everyone else. To know what feels true to our heart is very natural, very innate. With practice, we get faster at recognizing our truth.
What gets in our way of determining the best direction to take, is other people’s judgements, other people’s perceptions, other people’s beliefs, and other people’s plans. I challenge you to make a commitment. Choose to take wise actions to enhance your personal health, deepen your connection to your wants and needs, and improve communication between the people you most care about. This will create success in life from the inside out.
Tips: Tapping into the Heart’s Wisdom
• Relaxation breathing, Rebirthing, Yoga
• Massage and Energy Bodywork for connection to your body’s wisdom
• Time in Nature (Beach, Mountains, garden) restores emotional balance
• Exercise brings clarity to your mind and clears the emotional body
• Ask yourself a question, take a deep breath, and trust what arrives first
• Allow emotion to be present so it may transform into something better
• Journal insights, ideas, dreams and ask for what you want
• Have courage to put your intuitive answers into action
Emotionally Stressed or Feeling Depressed?
Stress is a HUGE factor in our health. We may not be able to prevent the overwhelming angles of stressful situations coming our way, but we can influence our response to stress.
For years, Naturopaths, Nutritionists and Homeopaths have been treating related diseases in the body with natural botanicals. Did you know that hormone balance plays a key factor in stress response?
Did you know that cortisol, the major stress hormone, contributes to weight gain, depression, osteoporosis, and hypertension?

What Harmful Ingredients are in your Personal Care Products?
March 10, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Health, Wellness and living a good life are essential and important to us all. In the past 15 years, I have witnessed an alarming number of family members, friends, and clients endure a wide range of health problems, including fatal conditions such as cancer. Dis-ease is a process that occurs over a period of time and there are numerous factors contributing to the arrival of an illness.
In understanding that we are ‘energy’ and the cells in our bodies respond positively or negatively to every single experience and the environment we expose ourselves to, we must make choices that are alive, nurturing, and loving to lead a vibrant, healthy life.
There are lifestyle choices that contribute to cancer and other illness. On a daily basis, our bodies are bombarded with toxins; harsh chemicals in our food, water, household and personal care products.
This edition of HeartLink Insights will discuss the toxins and harmful ingredients found in personal care products, reference some alarming studies, and introduce a revolutionary skin nutrition line that is the first skin care to be 100% clean, safe for our bodies and the environment, and highly results oriented with tremendous anti-aging properties.
Ingredients in your Personal Care Products may be dangerous to your health
Many cosmetics, skin care and beauty products contain harsh chemicals that are being linked to poor health and even dis-ease. A recent study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found startling results about personal care products on the market today:
• 33% contain ingredients linked to cancer
• 45% contain ingredients that may be harmful to the reproductive system or to a baby’s development
• 60% have ingredients that can act like estrogen or disrupt hormones
Another study by the EWG stated that only 11 percent of the 10,500 ingredients in beauty products have been tested for safety. Of the ingredients tested, a high percentage were found to be toxic chemicals linked to cancer, reproductive disorders, respiratory concerns and even biological mutations.
Further to the study, women use on average 12 personal care products daily. In June 2004, a survey of 2,300 adults was conducted by the Environmental Working Group and Campaign for Safe Cosmetics about personal care use. Under current trends, the survey concluded an average of more than 160 chemicals is absorbed through the skin every day.
The 12 Most Toxic Ingredients to Avoid
The skin is our largest organ in the body, and some even refer to the skin as the 2nd kidney. Our personal care products are absorbed into the skin, so even trace amounts of harmful toxins may set up an environment for the early stage of dis-ease or illness.
I am discovering that even the most commonly used and best known skin care products in the market today often have a percentage of chemicals in their ingredients. To research the toxicity level in some of the personal care products you may use, visit the EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database: CosmeticDataBase.com and enter a Product, Ingredient or Company.
The European Union has banned many of these chemicals, though in the United States and Canada our products continue to be manufactured and sold unregulated. I invite you to research your bathroom cupboards and toiletry kits for the following common toxic ingredients to avoid:
Propylene Glycol (PG) and Butylene Glycol
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) & Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
DEA (diethanolanine). MEA (Monoethanolankine) & TEA (trieethanolamine)
Sodium Hydroxide
Tricolsan
DMDM & Urea (Imadazolidinyl)
Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)
Parabens
Alcohol, Isopropyl (SD-40)
Mineral Oil
FD&C Color Pigments
Fragrances
